What are your tips for saving money on big ticket holiday items?

This holiday shopping season, many of us are turning to "creative" means to getting the items on our list at a discount.  We are looking to buy those big ticket items but, save as much as we can.

    i often ask and/or look for scratch and dent's,floor models or discontinued items and have found huge savings in appliances ,furniture ect.this way

    Gift cards for making certain purchases is a big saver for me. I love doing this at ToysRUs.

    i belive that you do save alot when you use coupons and its very easy to use cut,take and give its as easy as that.

    I shopped clearance sections throughout the year. Now the only thing I need to purchase is the "special santa" gift each or our children ask for. I also shop for stocking stuffers at overstock, discount and dollar stores, as well as clearance sections and coupon sshop

    I look for coupon where they offer free products .... then it is totally worth using the coupons then .... I have gotten free bags of dog food ... free boxees garbages .... quit afew boxes of tea ...... coffee .... those are the coupons I like to go for .

    yes lots of deals on the sites you guys list , I go thru most of them daily and pick out the "top deals" and post them in a newsletter and blog to save others the time, I do surveys, contests, freebies, rewards, rebates in addition to mystery shopping, freelance photography & writing and merchandising too, in order to cover my bills, my spending and entertainment. I also do ebay. if anyone has any ideas on how to add to my reportoire or just want to drop by and check out my blog/newsletter etc please do!
