I dont use soap on my face...... i occasionally use a scrub one would use in the shower.... on my face .... use cold cream especially around the eyes....... and always when i go biking or walking in the sun...... Growing up around the women in my family, it was always said to, "never go out without your face on". I lived by that rule for a very long time, but now that i am a mom of an almost 2 year old, taking care of my daughter is first on my list! I still like making sure i look pretty before heading out the door, but now it's a little mascara and blush, instead of the full onset of makeup like i used to wear!

At 70, my grandmother had the softest, most beautiful skin. When I was a little girl, I would watch her stand at her vanity and blend Charles of the Ritz serum into her face and neck. She would tell me how important it was to take care of our skin. The women in my family have been blessed with good skin. My mom had very few wrinkles into her 70s. My grandmother inspired me then, so I've always taken good care of my skin. I never go out without sunscreen or moisturizer.

My hands look a lot older than I am. I would recommend wearing plastic/rubber gloves if you hand wash dishes, and if you live in a cold climate, always wear arm gloves in the winter. Cold weather will age your hands (I am reminded of how "cool" I was as a teenager when I wouldn't wear gloves, every time I look at my old looking hands). I also think that a lot of the products that young people use on their face are WAY too harsh, and will actually damage your skin in the long run. Use eyemakeup remover, but if you can just wash with water and a washcloth on the rest of your face I promise you will have better skin when you're older than if you use harsh scrubs. Dry skin is worse than oily skin, even though the commercials tell women how awful oily skin is...you're skin will dry as you age, so embrace oily skin, it won't last LOL. So to sum it up, don't over do it with harsh skin cleansing products and always use moisturizer! Moisture, Moisture, Moisture!!!!

I use only a VERY gentle cleanser followed by 3 layers of moisture which contain sunscreen (serum, moisturizer & tinted moisturizer) in the morning and before bed. During the summer my skin is much less dry so I leave out the moisturizer and just go with the 2 layers (serum & tinted moisturizer). In my opinion, the best thing you can do for your skin is moisturize it and protect it from sun damage.

I try to never go to bed w/makeup on and use a facial cleaner or cleansing cloth. Also use facial cream and acne creams to help keep face looking smooth and blemish free. Another ritual is to drink plenty of water!

my mom taught me everything i know. most of the routines i use are because my mother told me to do them. washing makeup off before bed and moisturizing were very important to my mother and now they're just as important to me!

My mother always told me, "the sooner you take care of your skin, the younger you will look when you get older".

Wow, it's so nice to hear that a lot of our mothers do not wear makeup much. I wonder if this is a generation gap/trend thing... such as the 'Net Generation' being into cell phones and texting whereas their parents are not. The media inspires me in regards to makeup. Flipping through fashion magazines and beautiful pictures of ladies on the Internet, I start to learn about what beauty is and how to attain it for myself. There are so many articles online about how to take care of your skin (what to do and what not to do, what's good for you, etc) and these all inspire my beauty routine. In essence, my "peers" (the media) influences my beauty routine. And I guess the stage of life plays some factors because you take more care of your skin as your get older, hence all those anti-aging creams and such.
