Are you having your kids vaccinated for the H1N1 (swine flu) virus?

Access to the H1N1 vaccine has slowly become available across the country, but some parents are still having trouble getting their children vaccinated.

Have you had your kids vaccinated?  If so, where did you get them vaccinated?  Did they get a shot or the inhaled mist?  If you are choosing to not have your children vaccinated, why not?

I already had my kid(s) vaccinated (21.6%)

I want to get my kid(s) vaccinated but can't get access to the vaccine (10.7%)

I've been able to get some of my kids vaccinated, but not all of them (3.5%)

I'm unsure about whether to get my kids vaccinated (25.3%)

I'm definitely not having my kids vaccinated (38.7%)

I'm unsure whether to get my boys this vaccine (1 1/2 and 3 1/2). I am afraid to give them the one with thimerosal, although I would probably give them the preservative-free if I could get my hands on it. Of course, it's not just one- if you get the first, then you are expected to get the followup shot 4 weeks later....

I considered both view points before making my decision. Given that so many have actually come down with the flu in our area and that my son and I have a heart condition and that our doctor's office provided the thimerosal-free version--we did get it (I am 6 months pregnant).

I won't put anything in children's body that has not been tested.

All four on my children were vaccinated. My husband & I also got them. I was lucky and our county health department had a lot of the shots and there was no cost. My family has no choice about getting them. We have a disabled son who has had lung problems since birth. Anyone who lives in my son's home must have all vaccinations. We are very lucky that all of us have gotten it. Most people I know haven't been able to get theirs even if there are medical issues or if they are pregnant.

I live in the Bay Area and it's like a mad house trying to get my high risk children vaccinated. After about the 2nd time in a month of rushing my 4 year old to ER for breathing treatments, I drove 400 miles to Los Angeles and got my kids their first round of shots. Since it takes up to 21 days before a vaccine works, I pray that my kids don't get swine flu. I feel like the media and government are making people panic! They say, "Rush out and get vaccinated, but by the way, there are no vaccines out there, " It's like tellingj the people that the city is on fire but there's no water to put it out. I can see that this might turn into another seasonal flu problem. Like we get our flu shots but then we still get the flu because this is a different strain. Even with the H1N1 shot, Viruses mutate, so there's no guarantee! Good luck!

Both of my boys are also allergic to eggs, so we won't be doing the vaccine either. If it weren't for that, they would definitely be getting it. They don't just not test vaccines before giving them to anyone. My husband has already had the vaccine because he is an emergency worker.

Whenever I get a flu shot I get the flu and I get it really bad...104 fever, down for 4 days etc. I stopped getting the flu shot a few years back and haven't gotten sick in a few years now (knock on wood). I am definitely NOT getting the H1N1 vaccine.

It is impossible to get the vaccine here in California! It is very disappointing that there is not enough to go around! Really makes me mad that our tax dollars and health insurance money goes to these companies that then cannot deliver on their promises of enough vaccine for everyone! I am furious about it!
