I love to shop off season because companies are changing their merchandise and they mark down the end of season items. You can find the best sale on name brand products with 75-90% off of the listed price. That way you can add some really nice pieces to your closet without spending a lot of money.

I have alsways found that I get the best information from friends and family, either on-line, or around your nieghborhood. When everyone is looking for a good deal, you can pool your resources.

Buy clothing at the end of a school year for the next year when it gets marked down. Also have friends keep you abreast of the things they find when out shopping.

I try to steer clear of Wal-Mart even though their price are pretty low.

I tend to buy summer clothes at the end of summer and the opposite for winter. Just buy a size bigger and you can get some great clearance deals at almost any store including the expensive ones.

I get so many coupons from magazines. It seems like they get the heads up on certain sales, because it seems to never fail, when I see a real good coupon in a magzine there's usually a nice sale placed on it at some store. Now, whether or not it's on sale at a store near me, is another story.. LOL. Online tips and manufacturer's websites can sometimes give notice of future promos and sales too....

I also stockpile. The last few weeks before school starts I watch the ads, and when I see something on sale that I know the kids will need I buy as many as they allow me, and have a "school box" - a large plastic shoebox - for the entire year that we can take supplies from. You can find notebook paper, folder, pencils, dividers, and other supplies sometimes for 10 cents that will return to sometimes a dollar or more once school starts. I rarely have to pay full price throughout the school year when they run out of something.

I always check the ads before I go. Most stores in my area will match advertised prices. Always check the clearance aisle also. But the best way to save money is to take advantage of the tax-free weekend in August every year. Not only do stores have great prices on school supplies, but you don't pay sales tax on them either.
