Recently, the economic news about stronger than expected retail sales, has given many a glimmer of hope! As shoppers however, we seem to be constantly looking for smart ways to save money. In light of the economic downturn, if you had to replace a favorite brand name product with a cheaper product, are you more likely to choose a cheaper name brand or a store brand? Why? We’d like to hear what you think!
I'm more likely to choose a cheaper brand name product (50.9%)
I'm more likely to choose a store brand (49.1%)
it only depends on the ingredients, for me.
Name brands always have coupons that make them cheaper than store brands. I NEVER buy anything that does not have a coupon. I even manage to get em for milk, bread and meat.
I have had more luck with name brand cleaning products working as promised than generic brands. But if a find a cheaper version that works as well, I definitely buy it again.
I WOULD CHOOSE THE BRAND NAME IF IT WAS CHEAPER THEN STORE BRAND IF NOT I WOULD USED THE STORE BRAND MOST OF THE TIME THE STORE BRAND WORKS JUST AS WELL.
I would probably buy the Sephora house brand. They are reasonably priced and on the whole execellent products.
I am lucky that my grocery store has terrific store brand quality foods. I have tried other grocery store brands in the past that haven't been so great. I've heard that most store brands come from the major label makers anyway, so in this economy, I will always try it once and see what it's like.
Quality is important to me, if the same "active" ingredients are used in say a sinus medication I would definitely try the store brand. If you don't read the lables then the old adage is try "Buyer Beware".
Many store brands are made by name brand companies.
I compare the store brand to the leading name brand to see if they have the same ingredients. I usually chose a name brand, but. I do use and try some store brands
I never really thought about it but for some reason I strongly avoid all store name products. Something about any stores product really turns me off. Although thinking about it logically they're probably of equal quality. I guess they all appear to me to be of cheaper quality.
