The holidays are fast approaching and with them, all the gift giving and celebrations. Money will be spent, but it is a matter of how much and on what. Whether what and how you buy are determined by your household financial situation or are a reflection of values (from buying local to possibly paying more for more sustainable products or foregoing products altogether and buying experiences for your loved ones), things likely change from year to year. So, have you given it any thought?
More than I did last year (9.6%)
The same as I did last year (30.4%)
Less than I did last year (52.5%)
I'm not sure (7.6%)
We are going to try something different this year that we have never done before, draw names. I don't think this is going to work well at all, the mother in law is already started buying even though we have discussed this long before. Her excuse is she is 81yrs old and she is entitled to do whatever she wants. So there it is, we will be dropping a couple of thousand again this year.
I believe we will spend less on our kids this year than we did last year, but overall -including extended family- we will spend more.
We had two mortgages last year, so now that we sold one of our houses we can afford to do more for Christmas this year. Also our daughter is one now & will enjoy receiving things this year!
with the economy the way it is, you never know what will come up next. To buy a bunch of stuff for the holidays if you have the extra money to me is silly. When I was coming up and stop believing in santa I got one gift and was thankful for it. We need to realize whats really important. Being able to Keep a roof over our heads, food and buying gas to get to work is a gift and a blessing all the year through! Blessings to all!
Oops!! I voted wrong!!! I will be spending more! My daughter will be having a baby girl in November so there will be one more to buy for! We had to cut back with 5 children between us and soon to be 3 grandchildren, 4 sets of parents, it just goes on and on!! It's crazy! The true meaning tends to get lost in the hustle and bustle of it all. I HATE Christmas because of it all!
My daughter has a fiancee now and so we will be buying for him along with his parents
Hopefully I can keep the spending down, but that is just wishful thinking. I always spend more than I intend.
I will most likely spend about the same this year. I will be either making more gifts than usual or just purchasing less.
We're taking a trip to Disney so I think our spending will probably be less this year, plus all the nieces and nephews are grown with families of their own so I'm spending less on them and more on their little ones.
I will be spending less, Christmas is sooo over rated when it comes to gift giving. I feel like it should be fun instead of a hassle.
