If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

Department stores often offer similar pricing to discount stores they just have you saving so many coupons! Half the time there is no help what so ever in any store. If people were trained better to assist the customer they would be increasing sales as they help cusotomers who would then return again after a succesful experience.

I would love to have a grocery store offer premade dinners in the right portions, fat content and low sodium like the mail oder dinners for a resonable price.

The only problem I come across is, I feel stores don't have customer service any more. The stores are so big they have workers walking around but, it seems no one is responsible for the department your in. The other day at Target I was looking for a booster seat, no one was in the area. I walk to the grocery side before I found a group of girls standing around talking. One did come with me shot her scanner at the seat I wanted and proceeded to tell me it shows four in the store. I asked if they are in the back she told me as she was walking away it would be impossible to find and she didn't have all day to look. I left the store without making a purchase.

I think whileit may be convenient for one stop shopping at Big-Box-Stores, they are not all they are cracked up to be. For instance Costco:You can never find an employee to help you, and if you really calculate the prices it is not a very good deal. Walmart:You are not getting top quality product as far as the meat, produce... Just look at the quality. I don't know about anyone else but I'm not going to bring home just anything to feed to my children.

I would like to see more Grocery Stores with self-checkout because too many times I have seen only 2-3 cashiers and lines as long as people waiting for the restroom at a ballgame.I would also like shelf items to have larger price signs so you can see them better.

I enjoy home improvment as I am a new home owner, I would make a few changes to make this more woman friendly and useful when shopping

I love to shop discount stores, but I hate the clutter and digging part of it. I wish things where better displayed, cleaner. Just because it's discounted doesn't mean that I have to feel like I am shopping at a thrift store.....

I agree with Turkey37. I feel the grocery stores need way more than 4 self checkout lines. Many times those lines are either longer than the regular lines or they aren't working or they may have only 1 or 2 self checkout lines. Its not fair to the customers that have only a few items and do not want to stand in a long line waiting to check out their 10 items or less. Especially if they have to wait behind someone with a basket full of groceries. And many times people are that gracious to allow you to go ahead of them when they see you have only one or two items. I know I do it because I have so many items and it is just a way of being courteous.

I use a wheelchair or electric shopping cart to get around and stores like Walmart are a nightmare! They need to keep aisles clean. It's especially frustrating to try to go down what is supposed to be an aisle from front to back and have to divert and wiggle through departments because they have large product displays in the center leaving only enough room for a single person to pass by. They also should not have shelves up so high as invariably the product I want is on an unreachable upper shelf. And for pete's sake, put clothing racks further apart so I'm not pushing through pants, skirts, blouses, etc. when I'm try to manuever through the areas looking for things.

I like shopping at the bigger stores but whish they were set up better. For example: women's plu size clothing shouldn't be smashed up against maternity or bug spray in 2 diffrent depts., candy all over the place, it should all be in the same section. Ialso don't like all the junk at the registers or seeing empty register stands, if you have them, man them!
