Considering the downturn in the economy, are you more likely to buy store brands (such as generic or private label brands)?

We all have our favorite brands.  The ones that no matter what the coupon discount is off that comparable "other" brand, we will still by our favorite.  With the current economic environment, are you more likely to switch from national brands to purchase less expensive store or private label brands?

Do you think the quality is comparable?

No, I will stick with the name brands that I know and trust (0.0%)

Yes, I will purchase more store brands to save money (0.0%)

The same - I won't change my brand preferences because of the economy (0.0%)

As long as the quality is close, I'm willing to save a few dollars and go with a generic brand. If the generic brand is very low in quality than it's not worth the savings in $...I'll stick with a name brand. Some things won't matter as much...dish soap, hand soap, paper towels, napkins...it's all good.

The one item I will not ever go to generic on is my Best Foods Mayonaise. I wait until it goes on sale and I stock up on it. I have had 6 jars in my pantry at times even. I just recently had to pay full price for it at Walmart but it is worth the extra cost to me. I hate the taste of generics and can not stand the taste of Kraft. I try and use coupons and I shop by what is on sale. I think most generics do not taste as good as the name brands. I will buy generic Sams Club soda for my husband and kids. If I am going to drink a soda I want Diet Coke. The generics seem to give me gas!

There are certain things that I do not like to purchase in the store brand, but there are also things that I don't mind buying store brand. It all depends on what is on sale and what I have coupons for.

I do the same, if I can get the brand for cheaper with a sale and a coupon I get it if not I buy the store brand.

I buy store brand and name brand items. So I will continue doing this unless prices get ridiculous with one or the other. Using coupons has helped me a lot also!

There are some items that I will only purchase brand names but I do tend to wait until they are on sale.
