We all have our favorite brands. The ones that no matter what the coupon discount is off that comparable "other" brand, we will still by our favorite. With the current economic environment, are you more likely to switch from national brands to purchase less expensive store or private label brands?
Do you think the quality is comparable?
No, I will stick with the name brands that I know and trust (0.0%)
Yes, I will purchase more store brands to save money (0.0%)
The same - I won't change my brand preferences because of the economy (0.0%)
I have noticed a trend in Central Florida. Many of the store brands are most expensive then national brands when sales and coupons are used. So there isn't much of an incentive to switch to a store brand.
I live in central NY. One thing that I have noticed is that, while many brands are shrinking package weights, the store brands seem to be shrinking more than national brands. I shop by unit pricing and with coupons. Many national brands are actually becoming less expensive than store brands when the coupons and unit price are taken into consideration.
the store brands here are definitely cheaper, but you cannot get coupons or sales with them, so it really doesn't make much of a difference. some things i have a preference for, like my store's ice cream brand. lol others i would prefer to get the name brand, just because i feel it truly is a better quality.
I will probably stick to the brand names on some items, maybe try a smaller size of a store brand to see if it is worth it.
I use coupons and weekly sales to get name rand items for free, but I buy store brands if they come out cheaper when I don't have a coupon. Have to save money any way possable!
I have been a thrifty shopper all my life. I buy store brands on most things and I use coupons and watch for sales. It can be a lot of work but well worth it in the long run!!
I noticed the other day that certain things like Milk for example are shrinking in how many are available. At a well known Grocery Store here in Louisiana they had a small section like 2 rows reserved for a name brand and about 8 reserved for theirs so if you are there and don't feel like going to another store you are going to buy their brand. The thing is I like this other brand because of some benefits it has and it was just as expensive as the store brand!
I use coupons, watch for sales, use rebates, and use the stores loyalty programs. I admit this takes extra time, but save big money and it usually allows me to buy the name brands I love at a price that's cheaper then store brands.
I buy alot of store brand products but i always watch for sales on national name brands & use coupons....my grocery store doubles coupons too! :) It makes no difference to me if the product is national or store brand as long as it taste good, good quality & is a great deal money wise.
I used to go into the store and shop for two weeks at a time. I now make a menu for the week, take a list of the things I need and purchase accordingly. This allows me to purchase the brands I like, with coupons, and following store sales for my menus. I have not had to purchase the generic or off brands. The savings are amazing.
