The holidays are fast approaching and with them, all the gift giving and celebrations. Money will be spent, but it is a matter of how much and on what. Whether what and how you buy are determined by your household financial situation or are a reflection of values (from buying local to possibly paying more for more sustainable products or foregoing products altogether and buying experiences for your loved ones), things likely change from year to year. So, have you given it any thought?
More than I did last year (9.6%)
The same as I did last year (30.4%)
Less than I did last year (52.5%)
I'm not sure (7.6%)
i;m trying to save up for my wedding next yeear
I would like to spend the same or less than I did last year. But with the price increase of nearly everything, I'll probably end up buying FEWER gifts for MORE money! But I stretch my $$ as far as I can!
my kids are getting older and they practically got everything they need or want, so the only person I would buy for is my littlest one. So I would spend about the same as I did last year.
My son is young yet so I still buy tons of stuff! But nothing can replace the love and fun times we have!!!
With the price of everything going up, including gass, to drive aroung and buy all of these gifts I am planning on spending less. I have two stepchildren who are older and have alot so I don't believe in going overboard, now I have one 6 yr. old stepson and a son of my own who is one so they might get alittle bit more. I also believe gift giving in the home for children should also go by merit(good behavior, chores, grades,, etc...)
my kids are getting older now so it is getting harder to please them. They seem to be getting interested in the more expensive items now. Sadly I cant go and just buy barbies anymore. Now it is video games and other electronics. This year I will be combining their gift and just buying them a new computer for all of them. One gift! LOL
I'd love to spend more but living in a college town getting work is rough. I think I'll pass out Gift cards this year. I might end up spending way less than last year.
I lost my job so I will definitely be spending much less.
I have a daughter that is 11, and a son who is 1. I am hoping to be able to buy more for them this year, but with these increased prices, it will be hard. I wish things could go cheaper when it is the holidays, instead of them being higher around holidays.
If I can start shopping now and get some great deals, online and in stores, I can spend the same amount and still get thoughtful, quality items for the holidays. But as the kids get older, the "toys" get more expensive. Less items but more expensive so sticking to our budget is important!!
