I live in NYC, so I think about the swine flu a lot, because we are in such close quarters here. I try not to touch the bars on the subway, and I wash my hands the minute I get to work. My kids have gotten flu shots (the regular one - not swine flu) - and I'm going to get a free flu shot at work. The govt seems unsure about how prevalent the swine flu will turn out to be and I'm very curious to see what happens. Here's hoping for a healthy winter for everyone!

As much as I try not to, our current financial situation is always on my mind. Especially with the holidays approaching so fast. With my husband out of work (again) we survive on one income and what the government sends every 2 weeks - which is soon to expire. When he applies for jobs, so do 50 to 100 other people. He can't even get a volunteer job - they all have waiting lists. It is very depressing. If anyone around the Tampa Bay (Florida) area needs a high qualified screen printer - he is interested.

I live in Maryland, & we have recently had a 13 year girl die of the swine flu.It definetly makes me wonder if my 9 year old daughters health is safe!To be totally & completely honest,if the president would stop letting all these illegal immigrants into our country,in which are carrying these nasty diseases & illnesses over here, then we wouldn't have this problem now, with the swine flu killing our children!!Cause it really comes down to this,we never had this swine flu,or any of these other nasty illnesses & diseases in the USA,nor have we ever even heard of them in the USA,until these illegal immigrants brung that mess over here!!People need to start opening there eyes, ears,& mouths & stand up for our country!!Cause if things keep going the way that they are, then these diseases & illnesses, are gonna be popping up all over the USA killing everybody, cause we aren't gonna be able to have a shot to stop or prevent it next time!!

I live in Texas, by the border and I'm not worried about the swine flu. Yes, it is unfortunate that some children have died because of this virus. I don't think we should blame people from other countries. We are a global community and must learn to live by that fact. The best we can do is follow what the medical experts tell us. I do my best to be healthy by getting enough rest, exercising, and eating right. I practice good hygiene both at home and at work. Sadly, some of us may have other health factors that, combined with the swine flu, will prove fatal.

@chrystale411, swine flu is in nearly every country in the entire world. See this map: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30485593/ So it's unrealistic to think that anyone - or any country, or any nationality of person - is "immune" to a disease. Regardless of immigration issues, the fact is we now live in a global world where people continually travel for business and pleasure, so isolation is impossible. I don't know your ethnic history, but recall that a couple of hundred years ago, Europeans came to the U.S. and practically wiped out the Native Americans with the diseases they brought. So all peoples of the world have been victims as well as perpetrators of sharing disease.

My daughter is always on my mind. Top of the list. Yeah, I still want insurance and the economy to continue to improve. Sure, I don't want to catch the swine flu, or any other flu, but my daughter is always on the top of my list, on my mind.

I haven't had a job for the past 9 years!! I'm trying to go back to work and it's harder thanI thought. I don't have a college education and with no updated skills I think I will have a harder time more than others to return to the work force. I would love to go to school but with 3 kids and one income I can't. :(

As a single mom who lost my job in April - finances are on the top of my mind. Even though I am qualified and have good skills, the market is extremely tough. There are about 100 or more applicants for every job opening and employers are not necessarily selecting the most qualified. They can get the person who will work for the least amount of money. I can't even get a job at Walmart - overqualified!!!
