My husband and I recently watched this because of all the hype surrounding it. We agreed that the movie was pretty good, but it seemed like some things were left out. Neither of us have read the books (although we now plan to). I'm hoping the books can help fill in some of the gaps in the movie and explain more about the society.

Loved the books and the movie. I think reading the books first helps with the movie. And when you read the books you can understand the characters better. But they did a great job keeping your attention.

a very well done screenplay, based on a truely magnificent book

Loved this, stayed true to the book!!!

READ THE BOOKS FIRST!!! If you don't you most likely won't understand some of it because of all of the internal monolog.

i guess i liked the movie, but it was directed very badly. as some one who hasnt read the books, i was a bit lost throughout the movie.

I thought this movie was made very well, acted appropriately, and better than any movie in the Twilight saga, thus far. I'm a big Jennifer Lawrence fan, and think she's a wonderful actress, and she proves again in this movie, her acting credibility.

Went in to this not knowing exactly what this movie was about and loved it! I thought they did a superb job. The acting was great and really had me totally absorded in the movie. Can't wait for the other 2 movies to come out.

Most people who read the book first felt the movie was lacking, however I watched the movie first, then went back to read the book. For me, this movie definitely deserves 5 stars. If you like this series, go watch Battle Royale!

When it comes to books made into movies, you usually like whichever you experienced first more than the other. When it comes to The Hunger Games, I loved the book when I read it, and I loved the movie just as much . . . if not more. The movie was able to put me in that same knotted stomach, horrified and angry place that the book had taken me to, and it had me near sobbing several times. The movie moved things along and even seemed to make some of the weaker points of the book work better. I think the quick shots and shaky camera at times added to the tension and chaos. Because it was PG-13 the actual violence was minimal and The Games seemed a bit too quick and easy, but overall this was an excellent adaptation. Loved it!

I loved the Book, the movie was great!!!! But of course the book was better because of all the details.

Not quite as good as the books but still pretty good!

This movie was fantastic, and stayed incredibly true to its source material, which could be attributed to Hunger Games author, Suzanne Collins, co-writing the screenplay. The shaky cam techniques used by director Gary Ross were sometimes distracting and overdone, but he proves he's the right man for the job when the more serious and emotional scenes hit you so hard that it's sometimes surprising. Jennifer Lawrence, who delivered an incredible and Oscar nominated performance for her work in the indie film Winter's Bone, delivered another incredible performance here as the lead heroine, Katniss, and proves without a doubt that she's here to stay.
