My son struggles with social anxiety and has issues making friends because his trust has been broken by a sick cruel world. I encourage him every day to keep up his wonderful smile and remeber that I'm always on his side.

I have two autistic sons so I understand the struggle here. My sons often get obsessed with something and can't let it go. Now I often let them go on for about fifteen minutes then remind them that we need to move on to another topic. I remind them to ask me questions and really listen. Everyone is different and I wish that more people could understand that.

I think the biggest thing is LISTENING to our children. Actaully taking time to hear how they are feeling and validating their feelings. Hearing their opinions instead of always telling them what to do.

I believe my almost four year old son has adhd and his doctor says he cannot medically proclaim anything at such a young age so I have been more open about to learning and coping mechanisms for the both of us.

My best tip to approach it with extra patience and in some cases a sense of humor(as in don't take anything too seriously).

I have been through alot in my life and can only speak from experience and I can tell you that patience and tone and manner go miles with children. You really need to take your time and listen. Understand that each and every child is different and learns differently and should be treated as an idividual.
