When you eat out with friends, do you split the bill evenly, contribute just what you ate, or take turns paying? Do you use Venmo, PayPal, credit cards, cash or something else? How has this changed since mobile payments became commonplace? Tell us your favorite bill-paying strategies and you'll be entered to win $25 toward your next meal (paid how you want to spend it: Venmo, PayPal, or Amazon gift card!) We usually cover our own costs of just what we ate, and all just dump our cards with the bill :) I've never been with a group where we use a mobile pay because one person covers the bill.

If the waitstaff can't (or won't) give us separate checks, we end up just splitting it evenly

We split the bill 50/50. Dosn?t matter who ate what or drank what. If any of us have gift certificates, we apply that to the whole bill first and then the remaining bill is split evenky.

I have always just paid for what I've eaten. We get separate checks. The only time I pay for others is on their birthday. Everyone might split their check.

We typically split the bill equally. We may pay a little more this time but in the end, after a few meals together, I think it all evens out.

When I eat out with a friend we usually have separate bills and I pay either cash or debit card and the occassional credit card

My friends and I always let the server know that we need separate checks unless someone is paying for the group. Usually, though, we have a small group so it's not too much inconvenience for the server.

We always split evenly and use credit card. How else will we get our points and free gift cards?!

We all usually pay for our own food. If for some reason I pay for someone else, they cash app me what they owe.

I always insist on separate checks, but I do it with a smile.
