When you eat out with friends, do you split the bill evenly, contribute just what you ate, or take turns paying? Do you use Venmo, PayPal, credit cards, cash or something else? How has this changed since mobile payments became commonplace? Tell us your favorite bill-paying strategies and you'll be entered to win $25 toward your next meal (paid how you want to spend it: Venmo, PayPal, or Amazon gift card!) I definitely try for separate checks first. If that isn't an option, we try to split based on our actual bill totals usually.

I usually pay with my debit card if its my turn to pay sometimes we split the bill others times we take turns treating

I ask the server before we start to order for separate checks. I am always mindful that is far less work to ask the server to do this ahead of time, rather than asking when the bill arrives and then the server has to go back and re-do everything in the system. This also proactively solves the ever-annoying problem of who pays and how much when the check arrives.

Oh man, its been so long since we've gone out with friends, usually its just my husband and kids. Id say we get our own bills.

If it isn't a special occasion we pay for what we ate. If it is then we pool our money using paypal to buy the special lady/man their dinner. I prefer getting payment through Paypal always.

Don't eat out with friends,just family and I usually take care of the bill and tip.

We usually pick up the bill when we are out with friends or family but sometimes they do it before we get a chance to! So it's back n forth!
