Treat others as you honestly want to be treated. We all have to live on this earth together. It doesn't cost ANYTHING to be nice! I hope I have lived the example for my son!

Love, plain and simple. There is nothing more important than just being there with a hug and a listening ear.

One of my mom friends tells her daughter, "No one likes a one-upper!" Those are the truest words ever spoken.

Education and give back to the community. When my grandmother passed I was sitting in the front row, when people were asked to speak almost the entire town was there and stood up... she'd bought the scuba equipment for the volunteer fire dept after the flood, computers for the school, replaced flagstone walks in front of the historic library and volunteered many hours in the community. She'd asked it all be kept silent when she did it. My mom passed last year, she did hospice and Alzheimer units care for over 20 yrs, she always said take a few extra minutes with people. Her eyes lit up each time she was with her patients no matter how tired she was.

Zero words of wisdom from my mother besides me wanting to never be like her. As for me towards my children? I tell them; "Excuses are just you lying to yourself which means you are hurting yourself.".
