In our latest episode of the SheSpeaks podcast, Women of Influence, we sat down with Tamsen Fadal to discuss menopause and the lack of discussion, awareness, and education around this life stage that affects millions of women around the world.  Tamsen Fadal is an award-winning journalist, menopause advocate, filmmaker, and content creator. She recently left her 30-year career as a news anchor to dedicate herself to advocacy for menopause and women in midlife.

In the episode, we discuss the lack of research, the ongoing stigma, and limited understanding in both healthcare and the workplace. Tamsen shares with us the growing movement to provide better resources, support, and early education for women.

We also discuss the results of a SheSpeaks survey, in collaboration with Tamsen, to better understand the experiences of women during menopause and perimenopause. Close to 4,000 women participated in the study the key findings were that the perceived distinction between perimenopause and menopause is murky, and the actual definition of “menopause” appears to be unclear – or perhaps unimportant – to many women. See the full results of the survey here.

You can listen to the episode above or visit the episode page for more details and information! Keep reading to see how you can win one of five (1 of 5) copies of Tamsen's upcoming book, How to Menopause (Hachette, 2025)

Below are some of Tamsen's upcoming projects that you won't want to miss:

I'm currently in peri-menopause for a few years now. Some days it's hormone hell. Since I began researching the topic of peri-menopause and menopause I found that women want to know they're normal with what they are experiencing, including myself, yet at times it feels information is lacking and we feel alone. I've written about my experience going through midlife, including a bit about my peri-menopause, on my blog and social media accounts. When I do I get women thanking me for talking about it. It is a private topic but maybe we need to address it more instead of brushing it off as the "usual female hormonal issues" and an eye-roll from the audience. I'm hoping to win a copy so I myself can read it and maybe pass it on to a reader that may benefit from it too. ~Allie

I would like a free Signed copy of this book. I truly believe that the more woman take about their symptoms and what works great for their "Hot flashes" is a book I will read.
