Can you share the story of how SheSpeaks began and the inspiration behind its creation?
"I worked in marketing before starting SheSpeaks. I was so tired of companies getting it wrong when it came to marketing to women. Companies thought that if they “pink it” and “shrink it” then women would flock to their products. That was and is not the case. When I started SheSpeaks in 2008, my goal was to help companies understand what was in the hearts and minds of women so that we could help make their products better for women.
Fast forward to 2024 and we are still focused on helping companies connect with women in order to do better marketing. The big difference today is that we get to pay thousands of women each year to participate as influencers in our campaigns for companies. We are very proud to evolve how we support women."
In what ways does SheSpeaks stand out from other communities?
"SheSpeaks has always valued what our community members think and focused on providing as many opportunities as we could to get feedback from women about their lives and the things that affect them. This approach has allowed us to cultivate a community of women who take the time to weigh in and share their feedback and insights with us. These insights allow us to be more successful in the work that we do together with female influencers for our client companies."
Can you tell us about the SheSpeaks community, what the #BeHeard movement means to you, and why is it essential to have a space where women can share their thoughts and opinions?
"For too long women have not been “heard” as we should be. We make over 80% of the purchase decisions in the household so our voices, opinions and ideas should be a priority for companies. To me, our promise to build a stage for women so that they can BeHeard is the through line of our business since 2008. It is our mission and one that we feel grateful to fulfill on each day!"

Pink it and shrink it, ugh. I am a 39 year old woman with a 2 car garage that I use as my workshop doing woodworking, repairs, creating and learning. Very few people own more tools than I or have a as stupendous workshop as mine and I find the little pink toolkits to be obscene and quite insulting. Any tool that is marketed 'for the girls' is usually a lower quality/higher priced insult vs the standard unsexualized tool. Buy quality, build quality, teach quality. Extra points for saving money by thrifting quality tools for amazing prices reduce/reuse and recycle folks.

I love the SheSpeaks message and marketing concept. Not sure I would have been "brave" enough to wear this but because of companies like this one and the buzz going on in this world, I am feeling more empowered by the day! Thank you for standing up and speaking out for the power of women, and not going along with the pink and shrink it platforms. (Although I will always like pink)!

My favorite aspect is discivering supporting new companies that are women owned and/or champion for amazing causes. Also, love discovering new products, ideas, participation in product trials, and being able to share opinions and ideas with others.
Always interested in hearing about new products, exchanging opinions with other women & having opportunities to meet others at SheSpeaks events.
My favorite aspect of SheSpeaks is the camaraderie between the women and the way we can share each other's thoughts ideas. And anything that is plaguing us or on our mind.
