Everyone in some way has been affected by cancer, whether it be directly or by friends, family members, or co-workers, so I find the Komen Race for a Cure and the Relay for Life very inspiring events. Each year during the walks, participants include former cancer patients who have survived the disease and those who are still battling it. These are truly touching events. It's so important to spread awareness about cancer, learn about ways to be more proactive, and pull together as a team toward a common goal.

I support "ADOPT A SOLDIER" and "WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT". Both of these causes are near and dear to my heart. Worth the effort.

I support helping senior citizens by going to nursing homes and visiting patients who don't get many or no visitors. They enjoy the company and bring a smile to them. They love any visits and love to talk about their life or any thing at all.

Parents need to be more involved, and it isn't just with the teenage girls. The boys need parental involvement too, even if that is mom and not dad. Parent/ teenage kids meetings monthly is something I am advocating for in my area. I know that there are a lot of families out there that have kids with no parental guidance, much less supervision. I am trying to integrate a program for ALL to be involved in. For girls to learn about themselves and issues that women address on a daily basis, and for boys to learn about themselves and how to handle certain situations. Boys and girls couldn't be more different, like the sun and the moon opposites. I don't think that just one particular gender should be focused on though. Don't they ALL deserve to be educated?

I've been interested in the Susan Komen organization for breast cancer. I really need to get involved to show my support for the cause. It will help me get to know other women with this same interest. I would also love to be involved in the Make A wish foundation also to help suport the children and their families make their dreams come true.
