Physical violence, including sexual assault, is a hard topic to discuss. However, it’s important that we, and our friends and family members, are aware of the dangers and how to protect ourselves.
Did you know that:
- 1 in 3 women experience some sort of physical violence from their partner.
- Someone is sexually assaulted every 98 seconds.
- 29 percent of sexual assault victims were attacked while traveling or running errands.
To help, there’s a new product called AlertSquad, and we’ve teamed up with them to give away three of their emergency alert systems.
AlertSquad is an app activated by a Bluetooth key fob that you can carry in your pocket, attach to your backpack or keep in your bag. You personalize the app by listing up to five people or organizations (such as 911 or Campus Security, for college students). When you’re faced with an emergency, simply press the fob and alert goes to your entire squad, including your GPS location.
