Many people think their everyday actions are ordinary, and that the things they do every day can’t make a difference to help the environment. P&G believes the most effective changes don’t necessarily start with grand acts and can start much closer to home, by changing the way we think about things like waste.

Our members have told us that they:

  • “Reuse egg cartons to start new plants for our garden”
  • “Reuse jars to store odd supplies like, nails, nuts, and bolts”
  • “Use office paper for art, water plants with bathwater, compost, and have a small garden”

How to Enter:
Comment on this blog post and tell us one small step you could take tomorrow to help Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Or, tell us what your family already does!

Prizes:
Two lucky winners** will each win a $250 Amazon gift card.

We currently recycle everything we can, but I also love re-purposing "trash" into treasures, we also shop at the thrift store and we save money that way too!!! My son's been collecting cans for months now, so we're well on our way, to reducing our carbon footprint. I'd love to grow my own garden, I think that will be my next project once the yard is all cleaned up!

We live in Miami and fortunately we don't have to separate our paper from plastic. Miami makes recycling really easy! We have a separate container for all recyclable materials which gets picked up every 2 weeks. My family is very diligent at keeping lights that are not been use off and any appliance that is not been use unplugged. We also keep all unnecessary window covering close to keep our house cooler so that our AC doesn't have to work hard to maintain the temperature.

Our family does their part in recycling and cleaning up trash and garbage by volunteering for our community. This is so fun and a great way to make friends and get to know your neighbors.

I reuse containers for storage of leftovers and odd and ends. I also use a reusable water bottle instead of buying bottled water.

I love to recycle everything ! You can make your own curtain rods with left over paper towel rolls. Also reuse jars for anything and everything. Reuse your shredded paper by making paper mache project with kids. And many more !!!!

I love growing fruits & veggies with the kids! this year my son & his friend planted sunflowers so they can make their own seed rather than buy them! we will see. all this time outside is less time in the house running up my electric bill!

we have a goal to have a completely full recycling bin each week and a full trash bin only every couple of weeks. It is kind of fun to make a game out of it to pay attention and see just how much you can compost, reuse or recycle to avoid putting it in the trash!

I strongly believe in reduce, reuse, recycle. Having grown up in Germany I was used to recycling and try to do as much as I can. I use reusable shopping bags as much as I can and when I do get plastic, I use those as waste bags when walking the dogs.

Before I moved I recycled everything I could. Now we only do paper products until the city gives us the recycling garbage cans (which seems like it never will happen..it has been three years and no cans for my ward). I reuse all bags as trash bags even the diaper plastic bags. Wipes containers are reused for trinkets or such. I tear fabric sheets in half for a load and reuse the sheet at least twice (sometimes three). When I print coupons I print on half sheets for I get six coupons on a sheet instead of the usual three.

We recyle everything we can. We also try to conserve electricity and wash clothes in cold water.
