Can Howard Stern Keep it PG on America's Got Talent?

Known for his controversial behavior and x rated interviews, Howard Stern’s next endeavor may surprise some. The shock jock has been hired on as a judge for NBC’s popular show America’s Got Talent, which airs live on the network at 8pm starting May 14th.

The early time slot as well as the live (anything can happen) aspect has some up in arms over the hiring of Stern who believe he will bring the same kind of adult-only programming to the talent show. CNN reports about the recent outcry from the Parents Television Council that warns companies of what they think will happen while Stern is a judge.

President of the Parents Television Council, Tim Winter, sent a letter to more than 90 of the companies that have bought ad space on the show in the past. Winter writes, “NBC's decision to add Mr. Stern to AGT will likely result in a sharp increase in explicit content, and we urge you to be mindful when considering a media buy.”

Winter went on to describe why he feels Stern is not fit to be a judge on this show. He says, “Stern's reputation for sleaze and misogyny is well known; and to our knowledge his only previous judging experience consisted of looking at insecure, naked young women and telling them whether or not they were hot enough to pose for Playboy.”

Stern has since defended himself and his behavior on America’s Got Talent. He says, “They start to complain that I'm some sort of weird pervert who's going to convert Americans into zombie sex fiends, but I can assure you and the rest of America what I'm looking at here is to be a very good judge.”

I have never been a fan of Howard Stern because he is so disgusting and raunchy on his show but I've been plesantly surprised by him on AGT. So far, he's been polite and PG.

Kudos Stern is and allways has been the King amongst the Masses of Everyday Folks and I enjoyed watching him because he reminds us though his nose may be BIG it isn't so big that it is stuck up in the air..He's Humble and Approachable, Honest and Witty..!

I will not be watching AGT this season. I am broken hearted because I loved the show but will NOT support Howard Stern in any way shape or form!

I can't stand this man, I don't understand why people are so drawn to him. I think there were many individuals that would have been more suitable for this position. I honestly think these reality t.v. shows are more about shock and awe that focusing on the talented individuals who are on stage. I miss the old days when television was actually worth watching....I'm over reality t.v.!

I hope not.... I think he will keep it as PG as he can.. but he IS howard stern, and I listen to his show all the time on Sirius radio, Least give him a chance. I'm sure he will save all the rude comments, and "raunchy" stuff for his show.

He is a lot better than Piers Morgan, I think, more open to letting people perform and giving them a chance, not buzzing them immediately like Piers did. Still, he has a pretty rauncy past from his show.

I am a fan and thought he did a great job. The audience is fully engaged and it's a fun, enjoyable show.

I have never been a fan of Howard Stern and was totally shocked when he was chosed as a judge for AGT! Of course, just about anyone would have been better than Piers Morgan but Howard Stern??? Like Steven Tyler on American Idol the sensors will have to keep their fingers on the buzzers. So far he just seems to be hogging the mike and blabbing tooooooo much. Time will tell.
