Loved The Help.. would recommend it to everyone...In fact read the book 4 times and seen the movie just as many times.
Reading is one of my favorite pasttimes and though I received a Kindle Fire for Christmas, there are still books that I want in actual book format. I love reading books by V.C. Andrews and have a pretty nice collection so far. I also enjoy Jeff Lindsay's "Dexter" series, which is what the hit t.v. show is based on. "Same Sweet Girls" by Cassandra King is a very good book. I can relate to the characters because they are all friends who met in college and remained friends throughout their lives. The story is also based in the South, which for this Georgia girl, is a refreshing detail. The book follows each of the friends throug their lives and to their summer retreat, which may prove to be their last. Such a great read for any woman.
I loved "Love amid the Ashes" by Mesu Andrews
Since I'm not in school this year, I made it a goal to read as many books for pleasure as I can. I've already read 6 and can't wait to read more! The Tiger's Wife is one I'm definitely looking forward to!
I loved The Help. It was so touching and moving and you felt like you were really there with the people. It tore my heart up to see how people actually treated other people because of skin color. I cried a lot during this book. It is books like these that make me keep reading. I am reading 4 books right now and can pick up any of them and know where I am at.
I enjoyed "Left to Tell" It is a very inspirational story but also a horrendous one that opened my eyes to what had happened there. Immaculee Ilibagiza grew up in a country she loved, surrounded by a family she cherished. But in 1994 her idyllic world was ripped apart as Rwanda descended into a bloody genocide. Immaculee's family was brutally murdered during a killing spree that lasted three months and claimed the lives of nearly a million Rwandans. Incredibly, Immaculee survived the slaughter. For 91 days, she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor while hundreds of machete-wielding killers hunted for them.
As a pastor, I find great value in anything that gives me a break from the rewarding but draining work of serving my call. Books are a great escape and source of balance for me. Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is a fun distraction for me with characters that are flawed enough to be real, but absurd enough to pull me away from real life while I'm reading. Anything relating to Winnie the Pooh has been on my favorite list since childhood. Mysteries of all sorts have been favorites since at least early adolescence.
The most recent book that I I enjoyed was "High on Arrival" by Mackenzie Phillips. Although the book is controversial, I still enjoyed reading her life story and found it amazing she came through it alive.
The books that come to mind first are Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts--epic story! And Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, a great story about WW2 and an Olympic hopeful. I read a lot of books and those are two that have stuck with me lately. Love this list of books, has some other favs of mine so I'm sure I'll love these too and can't wait to dive into a new one!

The Song of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin really are worth the very long time it takes to read them all. I can get lost in those books.
Its so great to see all these movies that are based on books. It just shows that these authors are fantastic.
I love books! ALL books. I truly cannot think of a favorite as I love pretty much all genres of books and will read absolutely anything. I read every single day and just love it! The best book I read recently was The Help. I thought it was wonderful and touching.
The Tiger's wife by Tea Obreht. It is the best book. I couldn't put it down. Everyone should try to read it.
