We love a dinner party any time of year, but there’s something special about gathering friends and family around the table during the colder months. This season, TikTok trends are taking dinner parties to the next level—and we’re here for it! Whether you’re a seasoned host or planning your first party, keep reading for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card and to learn our top tips for throwing the ultimate dinner party that your guests will remember long after the dishes are cleared.

Pick a theme

Before you plan anything else, choose the theme of your dinner party. The theme will set the vibe and inform everything from the menu to the decor—whether it’s a moody “spooky season” party with dark florals and eerie cocktails, a “girl dinner” inspired by TikTok’s favorite small plates and grazing boards, or a breakfast-for-dinner pajama party.

Send invitations

Depending on the vibe you want to create, your dinner party invitations can be physical or digital. Physical invites feel personal and elegant, perfect for formal gatherings, while digital invitations are quick and ideal for more casual events. Consider adding an optional dress code—from cocktail attire or costumes, a dress code is a fun way to get guests excited.

Make your menu

Dinner parties are all about connection and community, but the food is still the star of the show. Design your menu to reflect your party’s theme! Try these quick tips for menu building:
  • Highlight seasonal flavors: Bring fall flavors to life by incorporating pumpkin, cranberries, and herbs like sage and rosemary.
  • Prepare in advance: Opt for recipes that you can make ahead of time so you can enjoy the evening instead of being stuck in the kitchen!
  • Cater to dietary needs: Make sure to have options that accommodate different diets, including a mix of small plates, sides, and a main course.

Set the scene with decor

A beautifully set table and thoughtful decor can instantly elevate your dinner party. You don’t need to be a professional to create a stunning tablescape—just a few simple touches can make a big impact. Use tablecloths, placemats, and chargers to create depth, and make centerpieces with flowers and seasonal elements. Personalized touches like name cards can also make your guests feel special!

Plan entertainment

Don’t forget to plan entertainment! A thoughtfully curated playlist and some games or activities can add the perfect touch to your evening. How about spooky tunes and DIY candle-making for a Halloween-inspired night? Or a fall movie soundtrack paired with a cornhole tournament? Get creative!

Incorporate trends

Add a twist to your dinner party with on-trend elements your guests will love. We love these fall dinner party trends:
  • Boards, boards, boards: Charcuterie boards are just the beginning—try a fondue, cookie, or s’mores board to mix things up.
  • Caramel apple bar: Give your guests a chance to DIY their dessert with creative toppings.
  • DIY drink station: Let your guests get creative with a hot cocoa bar, build-your-own cocktail station, or mulled cider setup.

i like the full table chacuterie board. We have a round lazy susan 40 " across that I would love to fill so that everyone (6-8 guests) has a piece of the pie infront of them.

I plan to have a friendsgiving party, there may only be two or three people total but I'd rather quality over quantity! I love the caramel apple idea, and always love to have themed outfits such as pajamas!
