SheSpeaks Up About Charity: Water
SheSpeaks has teamed up with a non-profit organization called Charity: Water and begun our own campaign to raise $5,000 in order to provide resources to drill and build a well for clean drinking water. Just one of these wells will provide clean and safe drinking water for 250 people or more for up to 20 years.

Bloggers Unite
There is one organization that understands how far reaching people's words can be on the web. Back in 2007 Collis and Cyan Ta'eed had the idea to create an event called Blog Action Day where bloggers from all different countries would write about the same topic, the environment, on the same day.

A Little Of Your Time For A Big Cause
The organization is participating in something called a 10,000 in 10-Day Research Challenge that is sponsored by Hershey. If Soaringwords can get 10,000 people to donate just 15 minutes of their time by completing a survey, Hershey's has agreed to give a $35,000 grant to the organization.

Patrick Rooney, director of research at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, believes that higher rates of philanthropic women may not just be coincidence. Rooney reports, "Given that the behavior appears to be independent of income, it's difficult to ignore the argument that altruism is more highly developed in women than in men."

Violent Video Game Gets The Boot
The disturbing Japanese game called Rapelay is said to depict mothers and their daughters being stalked, assaulted, and raped. Fox News recently reported on Amazon and eBay dropping the game from their sites. An Amazon spokeswoman told Fox News, "We determined that we did not want to be selling this particular item."

One organization that offers a great alternative to shopping at your local department store is Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C). The SU2C website reminds us that cancer takes one life every single minute and that 1500 people in America die every day from this disease.
